The English Department
The English Department offers private tuition in English Language and English Literature for Key Stage 3, GCSE, A level and preparation for university.
Mark has spent nearly 40 years teaching children and young people aged 4 to 18. During that time he has worked as a Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher and Head of Sixth Form and, most recently, as an English teacher, Geography teacher and Pastoral Lead. Although he has held senior leadership positions, he has always loved being in the classroom, working directly with students and seeing them grow in confidence.
Mark teaches English and Geography and enjoys helping children of all abilities, whether they need extra support, are preparing for GCSEs or simply want to develop their confidence. Every child learns differently, so he tailors his lessons to suit the individual, making them engaging, encouraging and enjoyable. His aim is not just to improve grades but to help students believe in themselves and discover that they are capable of far more than they often think.
Outside the classroom, Mark is a published author and poet, and he loves sharing his enthusiasm for reading, writing and creativity with young people. He believes learning should be challenging, rewarding and, above all, something to enjoy.
If you are looking for an experienced, patient and approachable tutor who will take the time to get to know your child and help them flourish, Mark would be delighted to help.
