Alicia offers tuition in Latin, Classical Greek and Classical Civilisation at all levels up to A level and is passionate about fostering a deep enthusiasm for the classical world in her students. She has six years of professional teaching experience at prestigious independent schools, following a PGCE and undergraduate degree in Classics at the University of Cambridge. Alicia especially enjoys fusing her love of Classics with her love of acting, having performed in two separate productions of Euripides’ Bacchae, including performances at the Edinburgh Fringe, and Sophocles’ Oedipus at Colonus in the triennial Cambridge Greek Play.
Sonia is a highly experienced and effective teacher of Classical Civilisation, Latin and Ancient Greek. She has taught a combination of these subjects at a leading independent school in south London for the last 13 years. Before that, from 1998, she taught at several other leading independent schools in central and south-east London, at boys', girls' and mixed schools. She has extensive experience of UK GCSE and A level exam boards. Sonia has been an assistant examiner for A level Latin and has attended many Sovereign Education days. She has also accompanied many educational trips to Greece, Sicily and Rome.
Sonia is half Norwegian, so she spends a lot of time there, and she loves the great outdoors, especially hiking, sea swimming and skiing. At her latest school, Sonia offered sessions on Norse mythology, culture and language. She also loves the creative arts, with watercolour painting and needlework as her ways to relax.
Sonia has a BA in Latin with English and a PGCE in Classics.
